20 June 2025
As the redevelopment of Ipswich Museum continues to move forward, the value of volunteers remains key to the success of the museum when it reopens. As part of National Volunteers’ Week, a special collaboration between Ipswich Museums, Suffolk Family Carers, Family First, National Trust Sutton Hoo, Suffolk Archives and Anglia Care Trust provided the perfect opportunity to say a resounding “thank you” to our volunteers.
A Day of Discovery and Connection
On Wednesday 4th June, volunteers from the six organisations were invited to Christchurch Mansion to enjoy a range of activities, including an exclusive attic tour, a hands-on butter-making activity and a wellbeing walk through the beautiful surroundings of Christchurch Park
Community Support at its Best
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of local businesses. A big thank you to Duncan’s Bakery, Cuppa, The Co-op, Tesco Martlesham, and Tesco Copdock for donating delicious refreshments. Their contributions ensured everyone could enjoy a well-deserved break with tasty treats and drinks, making the event even more special. — a perfect way to acknowledge the hard work volunteers put in throughout the year.
Building Stronger Communities Together
This celebration was a reminder of the power of collaboration. The partner organisations might have different aims, from preserving history to supporting vulnerable families, but it’s only through the tireless efforts of our volunteers that we’re all able to achieve such meaningful work. Volunteers make it possible to do more, and their dedication helps create stronger, more connected communities across Suffolk.
Looking Ahead
Ipswich Museums look forward to offering more opportunities to volunteer once the redevelopment project is completed. Keep checking our website for information about volunteering roles we can offer. Get Involved | Volunteering for Colchester + Ipswich Museums Cimuseums Volunteers
